2009 Great Beginnings -- 2010 Continued Firsts!
At the end of most years, most people are ready to be done with the year and move onto new beginnings.  With all that has happened in the world with the recession, I really can’t blame anyone for those feelings.  However, I must admit that while I’m really excited about 2010, I have to say that 2009 was filled with great beginnings for Get Cocky! As I have already talked about in...

On this Christmas Day...
There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God’s angel stood among them and God’s glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a...

Something Simple Even YOU Can Do
This weekend three of us headed down to Atlanta First United Methodist Church in downtown Atlanta to volunteer with the Midtown Assistance Center or MAC for short.  MAC services low income individuals in the community and is sponsored by many of the downtown churches.  MAC offers a food pantry and clothes closet as well as other services to assist these individuals. With the holidays in full...

Let's hear from you!!!
Since we started our web-store and our Facebook and Twitter pages, we keep hearing (ok, reading) from JSU Students who say that there is nothing to do in J’ville or that they wish there were other opportunities or stores in J’ville…. Lady Gamecock Volleyball
This weekend some really amazing things occurred for the “Hen House!” The Lady Gamecock Volleyball team travelled to Tallahassee to play in the NCAA Tournament.  For those of you who only focus on the football team or the Marching Southerners—let me catch you up to speed.   This year is their THIRD appearance in the tournament and their FOURTH OVC Championship in five years! ...

Go Pirates!!??!!
Just a quick blurb as this game gets going but I want to give a huge “GO Pirates!” to the football team of East Carolina! Linebacker (#49) Jeremy Chambliss in his Senior Season has not only had a great year but is my next door neighbor’s son.  I moved in when Jeremy was 11 years old…this little scrawny boy who has developed into a HUGE young man with a wonderful heart! ...

South Atlanta JSU Alumni
Last night I had the privilege of being apart of the first meeting of the South Atlanta JSU Alumni.  I have lived in south Atlanta 11 years (ok, THIS time, I’ve only lived here 6 other times before in my life—army brat, you understand).  Most of the Atlanta Alumni meetings I have attended, have resulted in road rage along the way to get to the meeting normally held in North Atlanta. ...

Final Thoughts Of Ryan Perrilloux
With the unfortunate short ending to JSU’s incredible season this year, I must say a few words about our senior quarterback, Ryan Perrilloux. Ryan was the quarterback for my beloved LSU Tigers where I worked for many years.  I had heard the rumblings about him from former co-workers and even the comparision of his off the field antics to those of Kevin Faulk, who was a student while I...
